Gianluca Vidal was born in Venice on July 1, 1976. At the age of 14, he began his journey into the world of glassmaking at Studio Vetreria DP on the island of Murano, where he trained under the esteemed Maestro Imperio Rossi. Two years later, he joined the Effetre International glass factory. As the youngest glass worker in the studio, Gianluca thrived under the guidance of the Effetre masters, quickly mastering some of the most challenging glass techniques and showcasing his natural talent.Throughout his career, Gianluca has collaborated with many of Murano's most renowned master glassmakers, including Afro Celotto, Silvano Molin, Luciano Pavanello, Giancarlo Tagliapietra, and Dino Vio. His exceptional skill earned him the nickname "Crema," a testament to his ability to shape glass with the smoothness of cream. In 2000, Gianluca worked at the Schiavon Artistic Glass Factory, where he reunited with Maestro Afro Celotto, a mentor from his time at Effetre. By 2001, having perfected the techniques of filigrana, mosaico, and murrine, Gianluca, along with Afro Celotto and Carlo Tagliapietra, opened a new studio. When Afro Celotto left the studio in 2009, Gianluca seized the opportunity to fully express his own talents and creativity in his new furnace.
