Lisa Daniel creates large and compelling abstract paintings. Based in Tacoma, Lisa's work explores color, texture, depth and transparency. She is a second-generation artist and grew up surrounded by art. Mentored by her artist father, she shared a studio with him for over a decade. Graduating with an AA degree from Green River College in Auburn, Washington, she also attended the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, where she studied art. Lisa has exhibited primarily in the Pacific Northwest and counts amongst her collectors both local and international private citizens and corporations. Lisa has been successful getting her art into commercial spaces to inspire businesses and institutions. Click HERE to see more of these installations. We're proud to feature Lisa at Barlow Gallery. Lisa's website is at: www.pouriton.studio. Lisa's YouTube channel can be seen HERE: "I create large mixed media abstract paintings. I pour, direct and manipulate multiple layers of fluid acrylics, gels, paper, fabric and other mixed media materials onto canvas. I explore ideas of color, texture, depth and transparency. I always start with a composition and a palette in mind. My process is very deliberate and thought out. With multiple canvases on the floor, I then pour and work the surfaces from above. Controlling the pours by putting wedges under the paintings so the paint stays where I want it, I build the surface layer by layer. It takes time to do this. The drying time can be the hardest part of my process. However, sometimes I don’t wait and do change the physicality of the paint. Disturbing the paint while drying can create interesting results. That’s what I am after, something interesting." -- Lisa Daniel
