Born on September 14th, 1959, in Düsseldorf, Germany, Rainer Lagemann discovered his true passion for welding and sculpture in 2005. He began his academic journey at the Abitur Albert Einstein Gymnasium (1965-1978) and later studied Interior Architecture at the University of FH Detmold (1983-1987), gaining a deep appreciation for design, furniture, architecture, and art.Lagemann's artistic focus is on the human body, exploring it as a timeless subject of art through modern sculpture. He is captivated by the expression and struggle inherent in the human form, which he captures in motion, embodying the grace and emotion of figures in mid-flight.His unique approach involves using hollow metal squares to sculpt human figures, symbolizing life's trials and the intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual dimensions of humanity. These squares create forms that showcase both the strength and fragility of the body, adding a sense of tangible lightness and abstract depth to his work.Lagemann's sculptures possess a dual layer of beauty and mystery. In the presence of light, they cast intricate shadows, forming a secondary, ethereal artwork that interplays light and shadow, form and spirit. This dynamic element brings an additional dimension to his exploration of the human form.
