Born in 1962 in Sichuan province, Zhuang Hong-yi is a renowned Chinese artist known for blending his Chinese heritage with European influences. Zhuang's art embodies a personal journey, navigating between his past and present, and is characterized by a dynamic interplay of controlled planning, emotional expression, and meticulous refinement. His works, notable for their bold color palettes and intricate floral motifs, symbolize prosperity and optimism and demonstrate his ongoing dedication to evolving his style through a balance of raw emotion and precise craftsmanship.Zhuang has gained international recognition over the past decades, with his sculptural paintings showcased in over a hundred solo and group exhibitions worldwide. These include the Found Museum in Beijing, the Groninger Museum in the Netherlands, the Ulm Museum in Germany, the Erarta Museum in Russia, and the 55th Venice Biennale in Italy in 2013. Zhuang's academic journey began at the Sichuan College of Fine Arts in China and continued in Europe at the Minerva Academy in the Netherlands. Today, he divides his time between his studio in China and his residence in Switzerland.
