Carol Gay’s love of nature and the beautiful mountains of North Georgia helped inspire her interest in watercolor. Carol and her husband moved to the area over twenty five years ago. Her interest in art began just a couple of years after moving to North Georgia when she took classes from Pat Gray at the Carriage House Art Gallery. The classes jump started her artwork and she hasn’t stopped painting since! Carol also has an associates degree in liberal arts from Southern Virginia College, and she completed art courses while there. But she mostly considers herself to be "self taught", constantly practicing and experimenting with new ideas. This experimentation is where she has learned the most about watercolor painting. The gorgeous mountains and its abundance of wildlife captured her interest, as she has always held a love of animals and wildlife. They are the primary subjects of her art. Carol hopes that somehow her watercolors can reflect their beauty and character. Over the years, her artwork has been exhibited in numerous art galleries and various venues in the North Georgia area. Currently, her artwork is exhibited at High Country Art Gallery in Blue Ridge and in 2007, she was the featured artist in "North GeorgiaMountains Magazine".
