"My passion is to build and create. Starting with raw materials and generating something functional or visually appealing, regardless of size or choice of medium, has provided me with challenges and learning opportunities that has enhanced my life. I was fortunate to have been raised within a family of artists and designers who encouraged me from a young age to try different mediums. I soon realized that each medium had its own voice which manifested itself in the final aesthetic. Over the decades much joy and excitement has come from the creative process of choosing the appropriate materials for a specific application. This creative process has led me to learn to carve stone, bend and weld steel, sandblast and cast glass, build with ceramics, make wood cabinets and furniture, and to create images on paper and canvas. For me the process is never ending as there is always something new to learn in life! I have been very fortunate to work on many projects and with wonderful people who have given me the opportunity to express my creative side. For each I am grateful. I am inspired by found objects in the landscape, especially those of age which reflect where we have been, where we are, and where we may be going. Old rural elements are portraits of mankind’s ambitions, often forgotten because of disuse and obsolescence, yet they are the warp of a unified human effort to sustain ourselves in an ever-changing landscape.
