"I spent much of my childhood on and off the water on the coast of Maine. Along the way I’ve always been creating some sort of artwork. An altering of life happened when I chose to buy an old classic wooden sailboat to live and travel on with my boyfriend. A world of extraordinary freedom, of stunning moments, sometimes dangerous, with challenges not found on land. Then my so loved sister died, I needed grounding. We all experience tragedy, we all experience loss. We bought land on the Bluehill peninsula and built a home. The land brought me peace on the long walks through woods and fields, and joy discovering all the animals, plants, birds and insects. When we brought our boat to the marina down the road from our land we saw that the owner’s father created magnificent bronze sculpture. He soon became a great friend and mentor to me. It has now been over twenty years of dedication, determination, focus and passion to learn and create sculpture. Each new creation, different technique, new approach to my art fascinates me…and in each piece a sense of my gratitude for life; to see, to share, to feel, of peace, of love, of compassion."
