Rod Zullo has enjoyed a passion for the outdoors from an early age. Under his father’s tutelage, he was immersed in the lore of the sporting life and gained a deep appreciation for fine sporting art. Encouraged by his grandmother, who was a painter, Rod took private art lessons at the age of five in Bucks County, Pennsylvania where he was born. Later, Mr. Zullo pursued an Art Degree at Montana State University. He earned a BFA in Fine Arts with an emphasis on Sculpture and an Art History Minor. Between semesters, he guided fishermen in some of the world’s finest fishing destinations. Rod's art education continued throughout school and later when he traveled abroad, visiting the great museums of Europe, drawing inspiration from the Masters such as Rembrandt, Rodin, Van Gogh, Sorolla, and Pisarro. Currently, Mr. Zullo sculpts full-time, creating bronzes that depict human figures, sporting dogs, and domestic animals, all rendered in a classical-realist style. His sources of inspiration are, “My love of the great outdoors including fishing and hunting, my two English Setters, guiding adventures, my grandmother, my father, European museums, and travels abroad.” Rod's contemporary mentor in sculpture was the well-known Floyd DeWitt, in addition to George Carlson, Kent Ullberg, and Jonathan Kenworthy. His work can be found in many prestigious sporting art collections. Additionally, he writes magazine articles for leading sporting publications, and is presently working on his first novel.
