Kathleen Frank, a landscape artist living in Santa Fe, has hiked hundreds of miles to paint the land of the Southwest and West. Frank seeks light and pattern - a glimmer of logic - in beautiful, jumbled terrains. Her oil paintings begin with a saturated red-orange backdrop. Using broad single brushstrokes of brilliant color for her overlaid imagery, the background peeks through, creating an understated influence. Frank earned a BA in Fine Art/Design, San Jose State University, California. In Colorado, she taught art and studied woodcarving. A printmaking program at Penn State led to a Master of Arts degree. She co-founded the Printmakers Studio Workshop of Central Pennsylvania and taught printmaking and costume design at The Greer School.
