Sean Witucki (b. 1977) is a sought-after oil painter who focuses primarily on the genre of still life. He is a self-taught artist who’s highly rendered work is reminiscent of the old masters. The use of dramatic light on his subjects brings an intimacy to his compositions. This light is also the result of his Faith in God being a driving force in his creations. He prides himself on being an American artist and draws his inspiration from many regions of the country as well as its people and their history within it. His voice, represented in the work, projects a sense of wonder and is often based around storytelling. Spending his formative years in a small town, roaming the Berkshire Mountain Range, Sean would often find the remnants of former colonial dwellings and Native American carvings on rock formations. These discoveries peaked his interest of history from an early age. This love of all things past has never left him and is evident in his work. These same mountains are where Sean discovered his love for the outdoors. Walking the old logging roads, hunting and fishing in rivers and ponds, these things all set the stage for his lifelong passion for the wilderness. “I feel that the Lord put man on this earth to share in all his splendor and beauty. I am blessed, that by God’s Grace, He has chosen to give me the gift of seeing, understanding and appreciating that beauty and sentiment. God’s light shines on all of us. Through Him, I try to relate this in my work.”
