Allen Wittert… Allen’s journey as an artist began in Johannesburg, South Africa, where his passion for creativity was nurtured from a young age. He became a professional illustrator while still in high school and worked his way through design college as a cartoonist and storyboard visualiser. Growing up in this vibrant city, Allen always dreamed of becoming an artist. This period during the 80’s and 90’s honed his skills, allowing him to bring ideas to life quickly, through his detailed and expressive illustrations. Throughout his years in the advertising industry, Allen never lost sight of his ultimate ambition: to evolve into a fine artist. His dedication and perseverance have gradually led him to transition from the structured world of commercial art to the more fluid and expressive realm of abstract contemporary painting. This evolution in his artistic journey is a testament to his versatility and relentless pursuit of artistic growth. A distinctive aspect of Allen's work is his focus on abstracting faces, flowers, and figures—what he fondly refers to as the "three Effs." Through this thematic exploration, he captures the essence of his subjects in a way that transcends literal representation. His abstract interpretations breathe new life into these familiar forms, inviting viewers to engage with his art on a deeper, more emotional level. From 2000 to 2018, Allen lived in America, a period that profoundly influenced his artistic perspective. The scale, drama, and excitement of America compared to other places left a lasting impact on his work. He began creating large abstract canvases, inspired by the grandeur and dynamic energy of his surroundings. Although he returned to the UK in 2018, he found that his heart remained in America. Now, as a single man with newfound freedom, Allen is eager to make the States his home again in the near future. Today, Allen Wittert's work is a captivating exploration of color, form, and emotion. His style is dynamic, constantly evolving as he embraces new techniques and ideas. He is thrilled to be exhibiting his latest creations at the Revelry Gallery in Nashville, marking an exciting milestone in his career. Allen now paints full time, continuing to push the boundaries of his creativity as a full-time artist and painter.
