Mandy Walter is a bead weaving designer who uses a needle and thread to hand stitch glass seed beads. Born and raised in Minnesota, Mandy moved to Montana in 2009 and has been calling the Bitterroot Valley home since 2016. She's always had a fascination for beads and jewelry design. In early 2020 she took a bead weaving class at a local bead shop in the valley and that is when her passion really ignited. Through a lot of practice, trial and error she has taught herself many different weaving and stitching techniques. The herringbone stitch is a favorite as is reflected in many of her pieces. This technique earned it's name because each pair of beads lies at an angle, resembling the backbone of a fish. Her inspiration mainly comes from color palettes ranging from earthy landscapes to bold and unexpected color combinations. Her patterns are hand drawn on bead graph paper or freestyled as she goes.Mandy resides in Victor, Montana with her husband and three cats.
