ARTIST STATEMENT As a carpenter, I have always worked with wood. Creating something different and a little more intricate is how I enjoy winding down at the end of the day. Using different woods has always been fun so why not on a lathe! I can frame a house faster than creating 2 bowls but what the heck. I find it intriguing and challenging at the same time. First, there is the idea then the drawing of the pattern, calculations, what woods should I use (what did I use the last time?). Cut, re-measure, sand, cut again, glue, sand again ... oops I need more pieces. Did I mention this was challenging?! Wood has always been in my blood. It is my passion, and there are oh so many woods to work with. I hope you enjoy my designs.
