Chico, CA ARIST STATEMENTMy story begins with the limited knowledge of the English language that I came here with a little over 20 years ago as an exchange student. In struggling to learn English and communicate verbally, I learned a lot about the universal experiences that art provides. I gained awareness of the complex nature of daily functions and social infastructures. In my sculpture, I seek to bring these experiences to life. The work consists of gestures, patterns, textures, colors, and rhythms. In conversation, this bring the figure to life. I aim to evoke the beauties, subtleties, the sadness, and the humor of everyday life. BIOGRAPHYKensuke Yamada was born in Kamakura, Kanagawa, Japan.
