CASEY HAUGH, b. 1986, American Casey Haugh is a Washington D.C. based artist whose techniques span from abstract-expressionism, impressionistic landscapes, and post-impressionism. In his “Void Series” he uses an oil-glazing technique that renders the objects luminous and three-dimensional. ARTIST STATEMENT - The Void SeriesIn this series of oil paintings I am exploring the Cosmos by reflecting on our collective place within it.The black table represents the void of space and all of it's unknowable secrets. The still-life objects are curated to invoke symbols of Earth and Humanity. Much like the objects on the table, we too, exist as a tableau-vivant supported by the timeless black abyss of infinite space. The under-developed style of the background symbolizes entropy and the struggle between order and chaos. An unfocused geometry can be seen within monochromatic patterns; this represents the mathematical force that connects all things through physics and a united spectrum. The Universe continues to support us all, despite the chaos and confusion of daily life. We exist to appreciate it.After all 'universe' simply means, One-Turn. What will you do with your One-Turn?
