Marjorie Allen was born on September 12, 1912 in Swampscott, Massachusetts. She showed an early talent for art in her youth, and at age 14, she was the youngest student enrolled in the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. As an adult, she resided in Monterey for 16 years. Both a painter and sculptor, she was an active Artist Member of the Carmel Art Association. She also exhibited at Galerie de Tours in Carmel as well as in San Francisco. She was often called one of the Peninsula’s most individualistic creatives because her style was so identifiable in both mediums. She passed away suddenly at Monterey Hospital on April 30, 1968.
