Deb has always enjoyed working with her hands, a passion cultivated from an early age. Raised in Bucks County, PA, an area rich in the cultural arts, she pursued her love of painting and earned a degree from The Tyler School of Art at Temple University. Shortly after graduation, she married her college sweetheart, Jeff. After college, Deb discovered a deep love for sculpting clay, which led to a position as a ceramist and tile maker at The Moravian Pottery and Tile Works, an historic turn-of-the-century pottery. The skills and knowledge gained during this time inspired her to venture out independently, founding her own ceramics company, Acorn Pottery. During these 10 years before starting a family, she found joy in designing and producing a unique line of ceramic accessories for the home and garden. When her husband’s banking career moved the family to Richmond, VA in 2002, Deb decided to close her clay studio and begin painting again. In Virginia followed by Raleigh, North Carolina, she painted many house portraits for clients and experimented painting plein air with groups of fellow artists. During this time, Deb worked hard to develop her own artistic style and expressive technique. Richmond talent, Curney Nuffer, and other visiting artists who hosted painting workshops mentored Deb in her journey to become a full time professional artist. Her works of art have evolved to feature the impasto technique of oil-a very thick application of paint-followed by an outline of the subject matter in graphite to emphasize areas of the composition she especially wants the viewer to notice. In 2020, after raising their son, Zach, and daughter, Lexi, the empty nesters purchased a second residence in the historic enclave of Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia. By sharing her time between her home studios in Raleigh, NC and Chestnut Hill, as well as much time spent traveling, Deb has discovered that this change in scenery and culture helps motivate her creative energy and expand her subject matter.Deb’s unique florals, still life’s and landscapes reveal her whimsical and stylized take on composition. She takes great pleasure in seeing her original artwork enhance the beauty and atmosphere of her collectors’ homes. Artist Statement "I enjoy painting still life’s and landscapes - each time I’m at my easel, I am inspired by something different. I love exaggerating color, simplifying form, and altering perspective so that viewers can easily recognize my paintings as a 'Deb Hauser original.' The fun for me is to create something worthy of adding joy and interest to the walls of my collectors’ homes." - Deb Hauser, The Artist
