Lee Morrison has a primal need to paint. As a visual artist, Lee’s work centers around colorful, abstract paintings that invite reflection and inspire forward momentum. In her art, trees stand as symbols of quiet strength and resilience—their bare forms contrasting against vibrant, abstract backgrounds. This interplay signifies the passage of time, vulnerability, and the enduring spirit of nature. A native of Chile, Lee lives today in Sherwood, Oregon, where she maintains a studio, and keeps goats and a husband. Her work has been featured in dozens of exhibitions and juried shows all over America from coast to coast—including Palm Beach, Florida, Palm Springs, California, Seattle, Portland, and numerous communities near those cities. Through her Forest Series of abstract paintings, her aim is to capture the essence of nature's cradle and its challenges. Each tree in her artwork represents a moment frozen in time, a testament to the resilience required to weather life's seasons. The colorful, fragmented backgrounds contrast with the starkness of the trees, creating a visual dialogue between vitality and stillness, between movement and silence. Lee’s paintings are not just about what is seen, but also what is felt—a convergence of past and present, of strength and fragility. When people engage with her work, they often find themselves moved by the quiet, yet powerful narratives embedded within the myriad colors and forms she includes. As we work to make Barlow Gallery an island of visual inspiration, art lovers will find that they carry the inspiration from Lee Morrisons’s paintings forward in their own journeys. Lee has been showcased by the Northwest Art Alliance in a video, which you can see HERE.
