"Painting & creating is just as necessary for me as eating & sleeping... whether it is an empty canvas or an empty room, the passion is always about creating from nothing. With the marvelous power that comes with art, I can't help but wonder - Did I really create this? Riding on that power really makes me incredibly grateful.Fearless, full throttle & an energy that never fades is probably my greatest strength as an Artist. With the total confidence that my knowledge & creativity as an Artist is always with me, I have no fear in going my own 'sometimes a little more difficult' way. My deepest gratitude to everyone that is affected by my creations. Because I love the structure and the written word, I always ground my paintings with various magazines and books that are close to me. Sometimes, I scrape and remove everything up to the finished painting, but mostly I want to discern certain words or parts of books... then awakened a curiosity, and I will also see the structure I want to achieve. I never know how my paintings will look like... When I consider my paintings I marvel of these forms, textures and colors. I love them shabby, a little dirty... The perfect do not appeal to me much .The Swedish melancholy is naturally as a contestation veil over all my paintings...all based and deeply rooted in my soul, my feelings. My brush strokes also following the Scandinavian seasons, the variety that love and depend on....I love structures I think they are like a wall of stories." Carola Kastman, born in 1968 in Ulricehamn, Sweden, is a contemporary artist based in Stockholm, Sweden. She specializes in mixed media on Japanese paper and linen. Kastman is best known for her intricate paintings, which comprise fifty layers with strokes that mirror the Scandinavian seasons. Her subject matter is characterized by a harmonious blend of texture and depth, creating a visual dialogue that reflects her fascination with the interplay of order and chaos. One of her significant projects includes a series of works that explore the transformation of natural elements through layered compositions. Carola Kastman's notable exhibitions include solo shows at blå hallen Höganäs, Sweden (2014-2024), and Salthamn Gotland, Sweden.
