Bill Gallagher is a fine artist and illustrator living in Smithfield, Rhode Island. He also has a penchant for making papier maché wildlife. His love for papier maché began in 1982 when he made a larger-than-life-size E.T., the Extra-Terrestrial for his junior class homecoming float, which he still has. The sculpture landed him a stint on the local tv show PM Magazine with Sheila Martinez and Matt Lauer.Bill is a 1988 graduate of The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. There he majored in Fashion Illustration and worked as a fashion illustrator for four years at The Fair Department Store in Worcester, Massachusetts. Shortly after leaving The Fair, Bill entered the jewelry industry and for 25 years, worked for various companies in Rhode Island such as Weingeroff, Nachtmann USA, FAF, and Kerrissa Creations. Through those companies, Bill has done technical illustrations and designs for clients such as Oscar de la Renta, Joan Rivers, Waterford Crystal, San Francisco Music Box, Christopher Radko, and Walmart, to name a few. In recent years Bill has rediscovered his passion for making fine art, book illustrations, and painting portraits. Currently, Bill is teaching mixed media drawing classes as well as watercolor and papier maché classes at different venues throughout his community.
