[FR] Danny Gretscher est un peintre contemporain allemand basé à Berlin. Au sein de ses oeuvres à grande échelle, la combinaison unique de couleurs vives, de délicatesse organique et de symbolisme semi-abstrait crée une histoire unique, à la fois dramatique et humaniste. Le processus créatif de Gretscher est très intuitif. Comme il le dit lui-même : « Il m’arrive d’être visité par des impulsions venues des profondeurs de l'univers qui me viennent sous forme d'émotions. J'habille ces sensations d'un vêtement coloré. Parfois, il suffit de tracer quelques lignes pour les faire apparaître d'un seul coup. » Alors qu'un motif en entraîne un autre, l'artiste suit le courant et voit où il le mène, opérant entre figuration et abstraction. Par le biais des couleurs vibrantes qu’il incorpore, d’une variété de médiums, tels que l'acrylique, la peinture en aérosol, le crayon et le pastel à l'huile, Gretscher crée des espaces oniriques, aux dialogues ambigus et en perpétuelle évolution. Même ses titres, souvent très littéraux, invitent à de nouvelles interprétations. Né à Iéna, en Allemagne de l'Est, en 1977, Danny Gretscher émigre en Allemagne de l'Ouest en 1989. Il y obtient une licence à l'Université des arts graphiques et de la communication de Stuttgart dix ans plus tard. Gretscher's creative process is very intuitive. As the artists puts it: "At times I am visited by impulses from the depth of the universe that occur to me as emotions. I give a colourful garment to these sensations. Sometimes drawing a few lines is enough to make them all of a sudden visible". As one pattern leads to another, the artist gets with the flow and sees where it leads him, operating in-between figuration and abstraction. Incorporating vibrant colours and a variety of mediums, such as acrylics, spray-paints, pencil and oil pastels, Gretscher creates a dream-like spaces with an ambiguous, ever-developing dialogues within them. From one angle tantalisingly mysterious conversations, from the next, completely identifiable to the human story. Even the literal titles keep reflecting new interpretation. Born in Jena, East Germany, in 1977, Danny Gretscher emigrated to West Germany in 1989, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Graphic Arts and Communication in Stuttgart in 1999.
