Leah Waldo creates as a way to process and express her life experiences, drawing inspiration from her poignant experiences in nature. An abstract travelog of a lifetime of deep feeling and mindful healing, her sculptures are monuments to the human capacity to heal and honor all those who are on their path of healing. “New Dawn” offers viewers a multisensory experience of the fresh energy that flows from a renewed life, the beauty that can be found in recreating life after loss. “I consider my work to be distilled landscapes - the essence of physical and emotional landscapes infused into an object. Each piece is a little pocket universe, a soft invitation for the viewer to simply inhabit that emotional space and the spirit of raw, pristine nature. Because of my intention, history, and instincts as a healer, the objects and experiences I create are healing spaces. These pieces are invitations to share intimate moments of my life, instances of clarity, and glimpses of pain, with my steps always moving toward healing.”
