Casper Brindle, born in 1968 in Toronto, Canada, moved to Los Angeles with his family in 1974, where the unique quality of Southern California light and the influence of surf culture shaped his early visual sensibilities. In the late 1980s, he apprenticed under Eric Orr, a prominent figure in the Light and Space movement, an experience that profoundly influenced his development as an artist. Though his formal academic background includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Brindle's most impactful education came through mentorship, hands-on experimentation, and immersion in West Coast minimalism and material-based abstraction.Brindle is deeply motivated by the interplay between perception, light, and material. Drawing from his experiences in nature, design, and philosophy, his work explores how gradients of light and color affect spatial awareness and emotional response. He uses airbrush techniques, automotive paints, resin, and other industrial materials to build compositions that evoke serenity and transformation. His signature bodies of work—including the Strata, Aura, Portal, and Light Glyph series—reflect an obsessive attention to surface and subtle chromatic shifts, inviting viewers to engage with the work through motion, reflection, and contemplation.Throughout his career, Brindle has received recognition for his innovative approach to contemporary abstraction and has contributed to large-scale design collaborations, including a notable installation for the Barbarian Group’s award-winning Superdesk project. His work is held in numerous public and private collections and continues to draw critical attention for its precision, material elegance, and meditative presence. Museum Exhibitions:Museum of Art and History, Lancaster, CAArt 1307, Villa di Donato, Naples, ItalyLaguna Art Museum, Laguna Beach, CAUSC Fisher Museum of Art, Los Angeles, CAFrederick R.
