Richard Erdman (b. 1952, Princeton, NJ) studied at the University of Vermont (Honorary Doctorate, 2016) and works in Vermont and Carrara, Italy. After an apprenticeship in Carrara’s marble studios, he formed a 35-year partnership with SGF Scultura. In 1983, Erdman created Passage, a landmark travertine sculpture for PepsiCo’s Donald M. Kendall Sculpture Gardens, alongside works by major 20th-century artists. Known for marble and bronze sculptures exploring natural forms and deep timescales, his work is in 140 collections worldwide, including the UN, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Princeton University, Rockefeller Collection, Tel Aviv Museum, and PepsiCo. Recent collaborations include large public sculptures in Taiwan with Richard Meier & Partners and Citterio-Viel: Arete (2018) and Seri Tai (2019).
