Peter Busby, born on September 26, 1952, in Southport, Merseyside, United Kingdom, is a renowned architect best known for his leadership in sustainable and regenerative design. After moving to Canada, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Philosophy from the University of Toronto in 1974, followed by a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of British Columbia in 1977. His foundation in philosophy, combined with mentorship under forward-thinking architects during his education, shaped his holistic approach to building—one that prioritizes ecological integrity and human well-being.Busby is motivated by the belief that architecture can be a powerful tool for environmental and social change. Rather than simply minimizing environmental impact, his work aims to give back to ecosystems and communities. He is a strong advocate for passive solar design, green infrastructure, biophilic elements, and integrated building systems. His approach reflects a deep respect for nature and a drive to improve the way we live and interact with our environment.Over his career, Busby has received numerous awards and honors recognizing his contributions to the field. He was awarded the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada's Gold Medal in 2014, one of the country’s highest honors for architectural achievement. He also received an Honorary Doctorate of Science from Ryerson University in 2008 and was named a Cascadia Fellow in 2011. He is a LEED Fellow, recognized for his extensive leadership in sustainable design. Museum Exhibitions:Canadian Centre for Architecture, Montreal, QCRoyal Ontario Museum, Toronto, ON
