Born in 1960, Shannon Belkin is a Vancouver-based artist and graduated from of Emily Carr University of Art + Design in 1992. Belkin is known for her bold and sensitive portraits, large-scale, sensuous, highly detailed flowers, and berries from her first solo exhibition, Nature’s Prozac, and larger-than-life oil paintings featuring the cacophony of the domestic barnyard. Her photorealistic canvases are tour-de force efforts of representation in painting as she captures subjects that have personal meaning.
