Sarah's artistic journey began early in life in the mountains of Colorado. Her bond with New Mexico was created when her family relocated to Taos for two years during her childhood. This connection deepened further when she attended Santa Fe University of Art and Design, earning her BFA in 2016.In 2015, Sarah completed an internship at SITE Santa Fe, followed by another at the Currents New Media Festival in 2017. Currently, she spends her summers in Marble, CO, where she works for a non-profit stone carving symposium while creating her own sculptures. Since 2019, she has returned to Taos each winter to engage with the local art community and explore other mediums, including painting, writing, and earthworks. She has shown with the Taos Abstract Artist Collective, at Studio Santiago, MoMo, and Revolt Gallery in Taos. Sarah's work has been exhibited in Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, British Columbia, and Peru. Every piece of stone has a rich history and exquisite potential. Whether extracted from deep within a mountain or transported overland, each fragment possesses unique qualities that can inspire and convey information. My practice is grounded in observation and relation through 'direct carving.' I continually strive to learn the language of stone while allowing my subconscious to respond. This process produces objects that emerge from a collaboration between my inner patterns and the forces of time evident in the rock. The practice is a whirlpoolAn infinitely wide mouth of inspiration funnels to a pointThe sculpture is the crystalline crust of minerals deposited and left to dry
