B I O G R A P H Y Charlie Easton comes from a family of British artists. He moved to Vancouver, Canadain 2006 and immediately fell in love with the same iconic scenery that has inspired somany of the continent’s great outdoor painters.Charlie paints emotionally arresting landscapes in both oils and acrylics, and isrepresented by galleries across North America and Europe where he regularly has soloexhibitions of his work. He is a Signature Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists (SFCA) and has studiedat the Slade School of Fine Art in London, at Emily Carr University in Vancouver, and atmany workshops worldwide. Charlie has a studio in Vancouver, but his first love is painting on location in Canada,Mexico, the US and beyond. He has had residencies in Haida Gwaii, with The HaidaNation and Parks Canada, in Banff and in Whistler. A R T I S T S T A T E M E N T “The closer I can get to my subject – both physically and mentally – the more honestand impactful my paintings are. I want the viewer to come hiking with me, to ski by myside, and to see the same stunning views that get me so excited to be alive. Optically, I’m fascinated by focus. How the eye and mind latches onto just a few deeplymoving elements within a landscape to create a simplified and evocative statement ofplace. I try to focus all my energy on capturing these important elements. Expending energy onanything that gets in the way of the story just isn't worth it. I paint in a style whichmirrors my life motto.
