Raised in a tough, tumultuous atmosphere with a perpetual threat from the east, Mykola Kuryliuk is a young Ukrainian artist who graduated from the Lviv National Academy of the Arts in 2019. His signature artistic style fuses Pop and street art, using methods of deconstruction to complement a layering of paints and silkscreen printing. Kuryliuk's subversion of traditional form and composition creates a dynamic transition between reality and abstraction. In his powerful series of works such as “Augmented Reality,” Kuryliuk juxtaposes iconic images with unexpected elements, creating a visual language that is both familiar and unsettling. Kuryliuk’s compositions invite the viewer on an explorative journey of reality in examining truth, absurdity, and human relationships. He has exhibited in Ukraine and internationally, most recently in his solo show “Art for Ukraine” in Miami.
