Artist Statement: “My work is inspired by fond memories of my childhood summers with my grandmother in Europe, where my initial love of art began. My work focuses on the intersection of old-world grandeur and the innocence of nature. I draw inspiration from the way that the light bounces and plays with hints of gold seen on ornate facades in Europe. In this respect, I aim to provide a quick moment of something nostalgic in the modern world to create warmth and brightness. My pieces are purposefully abstract forms meant to provoke the observer’s imagination and creativity, and at times invoking humor from earth’s creatures. I also seek to elevate the perception of ceramics as a fine art. Creating modern objects that hint to our connection with nature and time."
