A Hawai‘i-born sculptor, craftsperson, and educator, Julia found her passion for glass art in 2010 and has since worked all over the globe, pursuing her passion. In 2012, she received an Associate of Fine Arts degree from Salem Community College, and worked as a production glassmaker on Maui, honing her skills with the material and exploring her fascination with design.“My work with glass has always been influenced by a love of the process and the material itself. From optical qualities to color transparency to versatility of form, glass is a material unlike any other. Whether I’m working in realism or abstract, each sculpture is an ode to my home and the beauty of the world around us. I strive to replicate colors from the sky and the optical illusions of water, leaving the viewer with the same feeling you get from experiencing these phenomena firsthand.” Learn more about Julia's work here.
