Classically trained in Pietrasanta, Italy, and at the Indonesian Art Institute, Kim brings a unique sensibility and fusion of European and Asian influences to her carvings in wood and stone, while embodying the spirit of her present home in Hawai‘i. “My goal is to reveal the figurative essence within the material that is raw, yet refined,” she explains. The multitalented Kim has created sculptures, mural and scenic paintings for film sets; served as a juror for the Infinity Gallery’s 2010 Art Expo; guest lectures in the art department at the University of Hawai‘i–Maui Campus; is an art-restoration specialist; demonstrates stone carving at the Four Seasons Maui’s Friday Evening Artists Showcase; and teaches watercolor and acrylic painting at the Grand Wailea Resort and in private lessons.
