Hedged between the Uinta Mountains and the Wasatch Back of Northern Utah, Jerry has been painting the mood and spirit of the Kamas Valley. Jerry was raised in the land of Ernest Hemingway; and found his groundwork for his infatuation with the natural world while wandering the deep forests and hidden lakes of Northwest Michigan.A Master of Fine Arts was pursued from the University Michigan and the University of Denver after completing a B.A. in 1977 from the now Western Colorado University. Jerry traveled to Europe to study the paintings of the masters during the early eighties.Parenting and painting became Jerry's raison d'être after returning to the timberlands of Michigan.Jerry, and wife Kathy, moved to the high desert of Western Colorado the fall of 2005. He engaged with the artistic community of Grand Junction, Colorado as a member of the Art Center of Western Colorado.Retiring in 2019, Jerry and Kathy moved to Kamas, Utah to be with family. He set up a studio and has been investigating the topography of the Kamas valley. Currently Jerry and Kathy have relocated to Haslett, MI where Jerry’s painting are advancing his new phase of articulation while concentrating on his Acrylic Aquarelle renderings."My paintings are observations of the natural beast, the world outside my studio.”
