Caitlin Peters (b. 1984) is a painter and mixed-media artist living and working in Dallas, Texas. She studied Art and Art History at TCU and Lorenzo de’ Medici Art Institute in Florence, Italy, minoring in Italian and Women’s Studies.Caitlin has a passion for art history, design, estate sales and authenticity. When not painting you can find Caitlin with her funny, music-loving husband and three awesome kids.Artist’s StatementMy work is about color, immediacy, and an intuitive response to the world around me. Though my subject matter is often changing, I find myself returning to gestural line making, using broad fluid strokes with graphite to begin each work on canvas while focusing more on pattern and repetition when working in collage. When creating, I let the conversation between the colors dictate my next move; whether that be one of harmony or discord. The juxtaposition of colors, texture, and energy keep me inspired, curious and wanting to learn more. I focus on colors and textures that let me express my current emotions while leaving room for the viewer to interpret their own.
