“My paintings explore facets of human dialogue and people’s relationships with each other and the world around them. Through paint, humor, and a deep curiosity about humanity, I investigate what it means to navigate communications with people who see the world through different cultural lenses. “I use expressive black lines, lush colors, and transparency to conjure spaces and characters in stylized scenes and offer them an otherworldly environment to inhabit. Light-heartedness and a somewhat cartoonish style are purposeful devices that make prickly subjects more approachable, and viewers more receptive to the thought-provoking aspects of my artwork. Rather than presenting a single, personal viewpoint, I prefer to offer broad perspectives that invite contemplation.” Anita was born in Germany and grew up in Massachusetts. She earned a B.A. in Studio Art from Framingham State University in Mass., and an M.A. with a concentration in Arts Management and a GCPA from the University of Central Florida. After working in the field of architectural stained glass for many years at a renowned Florida studio, she has been focused on her own art since 2004. Her artwork has been exhibited at various galleries throughout New England, China and Japan. Anita also teaches at Great Bay Community College in New Hampshire.
