Debora Stewart is a Midwestern artist based in Iowa. She is a Master Pastelist with the PastelSociety of America and is in the Master’s Circle of the International Association of PastelSocieties. She has received numerous awards for her work and has exhibited nationally andinternationally. Her work has also been featured in esteemed publications, includingInternational Artist Magazine, Pastel Journal Magazine, and France's Pratique des Artes.Debora also has extensive teaching experience and has provided workshops for artiststhroughout the United States. Debora is the author of Abstract Art Painting: Expressions inMixed Media by Random House.Nature serves as the core inspiration for Stewart's work. Her creative process often begins withobservational drawings from gardens, transforming these sketches into vibrant pastels andpaintings. Her art is an intuitive dialogue with nature, embodying the energy and impressionsgathered from her experiences. Stewart's objective is not to reproduce the exactness of thenatural world but to mirror her internal perceptions and the spiritual tranquility she derives fromnature.Stewart's distinctive technique has matured over time into a signature style marked bydynamic mark-making and a palpable energy. Her influences include renowned artists GeorgiaO'Keeffe, Joan Mitchell, and Franz Kline, whose works echo in her own creations.Debora has a degree in art from the University of Iowa and a Masters in Counseling fromWestern Illinois University. She worked in the fields of human services and educationthroughout her life while maintaining her art practice.
