Patt Baldino began drawing as a small child, inspired by her older brother, who was also artistic. After graduating from the High School of Art & Design in NYC, she earned a Bachelor's degree from the School of Visual Arts, and embarked on a career as a graphic designer, rising to Art Director and ultimately founding her own company, specializing in package and logo designs for companies like Playtex, Max Factor, and Kraft. She always retained a love of painting and drawing, and throughout her time in graphic design, Baldino strove to refine her classical foundation and technical skills, studying at the Art Student's League of New York with David Leffel and Victor Zalidari, followed by years studying at Jacob Collins's Grand Central Atelier with Justin Wood, and later with Michael Klein. Having made the decision to transition from graphic design into work as a full-time freelance painter, Baldino opted to focus her work on still lifes and florals after a memorable session at the National Academy of Design. The model she was painting was consistently falling asleep, and when an instructor brought a bouquet of flowers into the room as an alternative subject, the stunning colors and textures were a revelation. Striving to inject 'life' into her paintings, Baldino began experimenting with adding birds to her still lifes, and she found that the juxtaposition of flowers and birds brought a vibrant energy that was inspiring and exciting. Birds have always been dear for Patt Baldino, who had a pet parakeet as a child and keeps bird feeders in her yard to this day. Of course, integrating ever-busy birds with composed still lifes is challenging, and Baldino draws heavily on her background in graphic design to refine compositions, starting with a drawing and then working through a color block-in before rendering a piece toward completion. Patt Baldino has had worked featured in an array of leading art publications, including Southwest Art, Fine Art Connoisseur, and American Art Collector, and she has won numerous awards, including first place in the Salmagundi Club's 14th Annual Sylvia Maria Glesmann Floral Exhibition. Her work is collected across the United States.
