Bio Sheel Gardner Anand started his artistic endeavor at the age of 7. His initial training was primarily with Vermont based artists and covered a large variety of techniques. His formal education to date, culminated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Vermont. His artistic expression settled into a natural photorealistic style with hints of impressionism, practicing an almost lost technique of traditional Renaissance painting. Anand acquired this style under the mentorship of acclaimed artist Carroll Jones Jr., who mastered this meticulous and multi-layered process used by legendary renaissance painters like Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. Utilizing an under painting process that involves egg tempera, earth tone washes, and oil paint, combined with just the right amount of “artistic license”, Sheel's work evokes emotion and nostalgia within the viewer. The use of light, shadows and color combined with atmospheric perspective allows one to immerse themselves directly into his work, as if you were standing at the exact place and time the piece was created. Sheel's body of work has been built primarily through private commissions. His artworks can be seen on display throughout Northern Vermont including Peoples United Bank locations, Merrill Lynch, and the University of Vermont. There are collectors of Sheel’s prints and original works all over the globe.
