After summering for many years on northwest Michigan’s Crystal Lake, Peggy Hawley and her husband moved their residence from suburban Washington, D.C., to Frankfort, by the “Big Lake," to be nearer her favorite subjects. Peggy finds artistic inspiration in and around this “town for all seasons” — with its abundant boats and deep blue waters in summer, blazing autumn foliage, snow-covered lakes and trails in winter, and springtime blooms of trillium and lilac. Nearby Point Betsie Lighthouse, other historic structures, and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore are among her frequent “Up North” subjects.Peggy Hawley has exhibited extensively in mid-Atlantic galleries as well as in Michigan’s Benzie, Grand Traverse, and Leelanau counties. She has a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from The American University in the District of Columbia and has taught art to children and adults.
