Jessica Kovan is a mixed media artist and educator living in Beulah, MI. Living amid woods, apple trees, 2 dogs, 4 cats, and chickens she is constantly inspired by the world around her. Jessica’s art is characterized as thoughtful, storytelling and layered as she explores the intersection of art, nature, the environment, and human decision making. Drawn to working in mixed media and collage, her paintbrush, scissors and glue become tools for seeing and understanding. As a conceptual artist, Jessica’s work is known to be personal, expressive and focused on making the spirit of the times visual. With a PhD in Adult Education, and having worked in the environmental and educational fields for over 30 years, Jessica is actively involved in both climate change work and in leading creativity workshops focused on taking care of oneself through art and nature. She is a Nautilus member of the International Society of Experimental Artists (ISEA), a signature member of the International Society of Acrylic Painters and a certified GOLDEN Artist Educator. Her art journaling and climate change work has been recognized in magazines such as Strawberry Moon Magazine. Jessica’s paintings are in private and corporate collections nationally and internationally – including the NCAA Hall of Champions.
