Susan Mcelfish is a West Michigan artist who has lived near the shores of Lake Michigan her entire life. She is inspired by the area and by the many places she has traveled. Although she enjoys painting and drawing, glass is her first love. Glass affords an interaction of light and color which is most interesting to her. Susan’s intention to entertain and delight the viewers of her artwork. She wants her viewers to be reminded of happy memories, sunny days and fun times. She often incorporates found and repurposed objects such as rocks, shells, beach glass, bottle caps, corks, buttons, wire and various other media to create interesting effects. Susan has a Masters’ degree from Western Michigan University. She shared her love for art as an Art Educator for thirty three years. She has also worked for the Nancy K. Poppen foundation teaching private art lessons to Muskegon Public School children. Susan has participated in many art shows, including Art Prize in Grand Rapids, Art Walk in Grand Haven, Grand Haven Art Fairs, Gallery Uptown Holiday Shows, and the Muskegon Museum of Art Regional to name a few.
