Leon Bronstein's work is intimate, elegant and graceful. A sculptor of remarkable talent, Bronstein magically transforms the human figure into fluid shapes. Bronstein’s sculptures exhibit the graceful flow of line and mass that one finds in nature, and it is this that gives his works such immediate and enduring appeal. In 1980, the artist discovered an exciting new path as a talented sculptor, following his previous career as an engineer and watchmaker. Inspired by the beautiful grain of a lone piece of olive wood he happened upon, Bronstein fashioned a small figure at a wood shop in the Old City Caesarea in Israel. This statue was so well received by the local shopkeeper that Bronstein's new artistic direction was charted. Expanding his artistry from carving wood to casting bronze, his determination to express freedom fuels his creative power. The whole of his development is an attempt to understand and realize more completely what form and shape are about, and to react to form in life. Bronstein's vivid and active imagination ripened and evolved as he sought freedom with his family in Israel, away from the constraints of the familiar culture of his birth in Moldavia. Bronstein, like many seekers, discovered within himself a source of strength and creative power that would generate an artistic vocation inspired with determination for freedom.
