Shara Oliman is a mixed-media collage artist located in the Denver metropolitan area. Her work is inspired by the beauty of the natural world and seeks to reconnect the human spirit and the environment. She works primarily with high quality magazine and salvaged book paper, painstakingly selected, based on color, weight and pattern. Hundreds to thousands of these small pieces are torn and cut to build painterly paper collages. While Shara has always led a creative life, her formal educational background led her to advertising and childhood education. After the birth of her twins, almost 15 years ago, Shara began pursuing her artistry as a career. Today, Shara actively exhibits in juried fine arts fairs across the west. Her work is commissioned, collected privately, and has also been acquired as part of various corporate and healthcare art collections across Colorado. “As an intuitively driven collage artist, I delight in the constant inspiration found through nature and through my own spiritual and inner growth journey. With nature and spirituality—and the interwoven aspect of the two subjects—as my guides, I use the unexpected medium of paper to bring perspective, enable introspection and evoke emotions. I am currently focused on Western region landscapes, relying on my interpretation of the natural world’s colors, movement and compositions, as well as my experience during meditative practices.”
