Katrina Case started painting when she was 7 years old on her grandparent’s dairy farm in northern Wisconsin. Her family was all doctors, pharmacists and nurses and she was always encouraged to choose something practical and guaranteed. She graduated Cum Laude from Andrews University in 2005 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts, emphasis in painting. She then worked mainly as a residential mural artist until the economy in Michigan took a turn and was forced to do what her parents referred to as, “a real job.” She went back to school and earned an Applied Science degree in Radiography, working as a teacher at community college teaching anatomy and physiology, still clinging desperately to her passion for painting. She often used her art skills in the class room, drawing study guides for her students of the different body parts. Art was her joy even as she settled down to do what normal people do. After a few twists of fate Katrina is back to painting full time. She has done paintings for organizations across the country, including; Phi Theta Kappa Headquarters, Make a Wish Foundation, and Mid-Michigan Community College Foundation. She has also donated many of her paintings to Phi Theta Kappa chapters around the country to help them raise funds and one every year to the Michigan Region to help fund a scholarship started during her time as a regional officer. She considers it her way to Pay It Forward. Katrina is currently living in the Great Plains state of North Dakota surrounded with inspiring landscapes. She is working closely with author Clay Jenkinson as an illustrator for his books on North Dakota’s special places. No matter where life takes her, she has vowed to never stop using her art to help others. “The talents we are given are meant to be cultivated and to be used to improve the life of our fellow man. It is a greater gift to give of these talents than it is to use them simply for personal gain.” "Through every struggle and hardship my art has always been there, it is my life and my passion. I paint most often images that bring me joy; these tend to be landscapes because they remind me of my connection to the earth."
