A colorist enchanted by nature's varied offerings, artist Sara Switzer works exclusively in oil. Quite versatile in subject and often imaginative, her "living" works have won awards and have been exhibited in juried, one person, and group shows. Most recently Switzer has participated in a solo exhibit at St. John's Museum in Wilmington, NC and the Women's Center Annual Juried Exhibition in Chapel Hill, NC. Switzer studied art at Salem College and the University if North Carolina, Chapel Hill, receiving a BA in 1964. Interspersed with a business career, Sara’s studies continued at the Silvermine Guild of Artists in New Cannan, CT and at The Fetchin Institute in Taos, NM. Sara’s work has won awards and have been exhibited in one person, group, juried, and gallery shows in Connecticut, Tennessee, and North Carolina. Subjects range from still life, landscape, and figurative, often including animals; developed while working on location in her studio.
