Sharon Paige has always been drawn to sculpture. Whether in clay, wood, jewelry-making, plexi-glass or metal. Her sculpting career spans over 40 years, beginning as a teenager. Paige began sculpting in clay in high school where her work focused primarily on large-scale, non-functional hand-built work. She continued her pursuit of three dimensional work by spending a summer at ECU in the ceramics department before traveling to Europe to study Art History in Italy and France. Paige attended Emory University, graduating with degrees in Art History and Psychology. In 2025, Paige will celebrate three and a half decades as Co-Owner of ArtSource Gallery. All media holds a certain fascination for this tireless creative spirit and any new found object is fair game to be transformed into a work of art. Re-appropriation is a repeated theme of Paige’s – taking a common object and transforming it into something to be viewed in a completely new way much in the same spirit as Robert Rauschenberg and John Chamberlain. The point being that “fine art” is no longer defined by one narrow set of guidelines. Each artist is bound to develop their own ideas, rules and conquer challenges in their own unique way thus developing a personal style. Among her latest endeavors are a series which explores the organic nature of sheet metal and wood - often whimsical, yet industrial, in scope. Large-scale works on canvas and paper focus on color, line and form. Industrial themed photography also holds a fascination for the artist. A North Carolina native, Paige resides in Raleigh with her three children and her four legged fur-baby. Her work can be found in numerous private collections across the Southeast and the following Corporate Collections: BCBS-NC, Credit-Suisse, KPMG, Wyrick Robbins Yates and Ponton, Trinity Partners, Kane Realty Corporation, Tri-Properties, Drucker & Falk, Thalhimer Corporation, Blue Harbor Bank, Grubb Ventures, and Elon College.
