Marina Nazarova is a Russian-Canadian artist who lives between Brazil and Canada. She holds a BFA in Painting from Emily Carr University of Art and Design, Vancouver BC. As part of the exchange program she studied at L’École des Beaux-Arts in Paris where she developed a true passion for the figurative art. Her practice revolves around painting anonymous female portraits set in abstract environments, primarily using oil on canvas. In her work, Nazarova tends to explore themes of stillness and detachment as she draws her inspirations from yoga philosophy and practice. While dismissing a fixed narrative, she focuses on a pure perception of the familiar as well as the presence of unknown and hidden in her figures. Nazarova’s paintings are in private collections in Canada, US, Europe and Brazil.
