While spending most of her life in Atlanta, Laura has also lived in Los Angeles and England. She attended the University of Georgia then began a career in business. At that same time, she began pursuing her interest in art, studying the classical principles of drawing and painting with a variety of artists. In 2019, after stints teaching and owning the Art School of Sandy Springs, where she offered workshops with nationally known artists, she began painting full time.Laura’s contemporary landscapes explore the abstract character of nature’s patterns and shapes. Working from photographs, field notes, and memory, she strives to create a sense of balance and serenity through a simplified composition and harmonious palette. The captivating beauty of marshes, mountains, farmlands, water, and florals, along with the interplay between architecture and the environment, are favorite subjects. Drawing inspiration from her connection with beloved locations such as the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Lowcountry, and the French countryside, she aims to convey the spirit of these locations through her artwork.
