Shay Allen is a graduate of The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (2007-2011). Her paintings, drawings, and sculptures are vignettes of landscapes, animals, and objects of curiosity. Other areas that inspire her artwork are antiques and history, botanical symbolism in art, folk tales, and black and white photography. She often begins her paintings on black primed panels, framing each piece with vintage and antique frames. “A painter should begin every canvas with a wash of black, because all things in nature are dark except where exposed by the light.” -Leonardo da Vinci.
