Born in Frodsham, Cheshire, Judith Donaghy embarked on her artistic journey with a foundation in textile design before transitioning to fine art. Working primarily in oil on canvas, her semi-abstract paintings capture the essence of coast, countryside, and flowers, reflecting a deep love for nature, colour, and texture. Extraneous detail is omitted and texture, colour and design are used to create mood and atmosphere. Donaghy's work resonates with viewers on a personal level, evoking memories and emotions through depictions of familiar subjects. She has exhibited extensively, participating in both solo and group shows throughout Great Britain and internationally. Her paintings are sought after by collectors and are represented in galleries across Wales and England. A passionate educator, Judith regularly conducts palette knife workshops, sharing her expertise with aspiring artists. In 2013, Donaughy was chosen to exhibit some of her work in the Houses of Parliament. She has also been seen on TV painting alongside celebrities. She maintains studios in both Cheshire and Anglesey, near Rhosneigr, where she participates in the annual open studio event around Easter. In her own words, "My love of North Wales, particularly Anglesey, profoundly influences my work. The ever-changing drama of the beaches, the sea, the sky, and the rugged landscape, bathed in constantly shifting light, provides endless inspiration for my paintings".
